Mickey Thomas, whose soaring vocals defined a generation of rock classics — from “We Built This City” and “Sara” to the unforgettable “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” — brought his unmistakable energy and stage presence to the gala. Known for leading Starship featuring Mickey Thomas through decades of sold‑out shows, Thomas treated the crowd to a set that spanned his storied career as both frontman and collaborator.

Elvin Bishop, whose blues‑infused guitar and songwriting helped shape the sound of American rock, made his mark as well. With his career spanning over sixty years and a legacy that includes major hits and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, Bishop’s presence added earthy gravitas and deep musical roots to the evening’s festivities.

Backed by the Celebrity All‑Star Band

What truly set this performance apart was Substantial Music Group's Celebrity All‑Star Band assembled to support Thomas and Bishop. While gala organizers kept the precise roster under wraps until showtime, longtime collaborators from Starship’s touring band — seasoned professionals on keyboards, drums, bass and guitar — brought decades of stage chemistry and technical mastery to the mix. Their contributions elevated every song, blending classic rock’s polished anthems with blues swagger.

Songs were delivered with tight arrangements, dynamic solos, and rich harmonies that showcased the depth and versatility of the musicians on stage. From crowd‑singalong choruses to intimate blues inflections, the band created a sound that was both familiar and fresh. www.substantialmusicgroup.com
